Here are the basic instructions for downloading and opening files from my site. Please note that procedures for MAC users might be a little different from PC users.
Finding it Later:
One of the most common problems people have with downloading files, especially when they are unfamiliar with the process, is that they cannot locate the file afterwards.
The simplest way is to save it to your Download folder. If you're using Windows, a Download folder will already have been created by Microsoft. Anything you download should go there. Depending on how your system is set up, downloads should go there automatically.
If your version of Windows doesn't have a Download folder:
Another option is to create your own folder to store things where you can get to them easily. For example, I created a folder on my desktop that I named "my stuff". I use that to store all my working files and some downloads. (This is a system I created when I was using an earlier version of Windows. Back then, it didn't have the My Documents and My Downloads folders that are now created automatically in newer versions.)
To create a folder on your Desktop:
Windows users: simply aim your cursor arrow over a clear area of your Windows Desktop and right click. A menu will pop up. Choose "New" and then "Folder". A small file folder will appear, titled 'new folder'. To rename it, right click on the folder. Again a menu will pop up. Go down the list to 'properties' and this will open a small window. The 'General' tab at the top should be in front. If not, click on the tab. At the top of the window, you will see a box where your 'new folder' is titled. Type in whatever name you want to use and click 'OK'.
To Download:
To open your product, you will need a win.zip utility and an Adobe Acrobat Reader or another PDF reader utility. Many computers come with these programs already installed, but in case yours didn't, you can download free versions here:
http://www.winzip.com
http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/main.html
Some of my download files are self-extracting .exe files. For these, you simply double click the icon and the book will open automatically. These files do not need any other type of reader because it's all self-contained.
To Open the Book:
The win-zip utility has a good Help menu which includes a tutorial to assist you, but here is the basic process.
